Despite having multiple chocolate-related food holidays, a National Almond Day (page 59), a National Chinese Almond Cookie Day (page 118), a National Almond Buttercrunch Day (page 211), a National Toasted Almond Bar Day (page 257), and a National Bittersweet Chocolate with Almonds Day (page 361), someone, somewhere still wasn’t satisfied and lobbied to have today crowned as National Milk Chocolate with Almonds Day.

If that’s not love (or obsession), I don’t know what is!

Then again, when you take a look at all the big-name brands in the candy industry, it seems their preferred nut is—second to the peanut—the almond. There are almond M&Ms, Almond Joys, Hershey’s Kisses and bars with almonds, and Snickers with almonds, just to name a few.

Now that I think about it, I’ve definitely had a love affair with each of them at some point during my life. So, yes! Milk chocolate with almonds does deserve its own day of recognition, because there certainly is an allure to creamy milk chocolate and the meaty crunch of an almond!
